An absolute waste of Money (FNB Private clients)
I'm not one to write reviews but I honestly I am at my wits end with FNB and their private clients division. I've essentially been with the bank since I was six but moved back to South Africa in 2012. They then obviously butter me up with private clients. I'm pretty self sufficient with banking being in the Financial Services sector myself so I thought the all in cost of having a banker of ZAR300 was fine with all the added benefits they quoted. I had an banker for the first 4 years who I thought was pretty good, for the most part if she didn't know what was going on she would always check with someone else and revert. So when the ZAR99 ****s were going on (I'm not sure how the system didn't catch it) and I lost close to ZAR30k she was super helpful in reversing it. Mind you at this point - 2016 I'd moved to a different African country and opened a USD account so my salary was paid in. At the end of 2017 I took off to my masters abroad and called my banker wanting to downgrade my account because I really didn't need all these services (At this point I was given a different banker). The only thing I effectively was keeping it for was the lounge access as I still flew in to South Africa often. My banker discouraged me to downgrade as I would lose lounge access. Little did he forget to mention that I was now paying ZAR400 for lounge access; honestly if I'd realised this I would have just downgraded and paid for lounge access as there are a variety of lounges that let you pay. I have received nothing but attitude from my new banker about my requests and there has been a resounding decrease in attentiveness. It was as if when I was passing through ZAR1.5m - ZAR2m a year into the account I was a worthy client and as soon as I became a student for 1.5 years I was absolutely not worth their time. I've found that its been a hit and miss with this service and if you can't problem solve for clients than its not enjoyable for you - you shouldn't be in a client service role. I noticed yesterday that the slow lounge was being charged to my account at ZAR400 every month and I emailed to ask and the banker gave me unending attitude and ascertained that as a student there was no monthly salary going through my account so I was being charged for the service. The only conversation I've ever had about downgrading my account with this banker had been about the slow lounge and they failed to mention this. And yes, I guess I could have asked how much the lounge was now going to cost me with me heading off to university as a mature student but why would I ask about this if I've never had to pay for it! It so so darn frustrating. In a year where I was trying to save money as student FNB and their system was trying to **** be out of more money!
