*****/**** ALERT

On the 20th of Jan 2024 my mother’s FNB account was de*****ed and 3 transactions went off, 1*** & 200 etym. the money was transferred to an FNB account and etym bought for a number we do not know. I believe the bank has access to check who the account which received the funds belong to as well as the number that was topped up however FNB has refused to assist stating that they as the bank can not prove that these transactions were *****ulent or not done by my mom as they all came from her banking app. When my mom realised that there was money missing from her account she realised that her number or phone did not have signal for a while on that day which we believe was the time the hackers were going through her banking app. Even though we can not blame FNB for the lack of trust towards its customer, I am quite sure that there is a way we can prove that these were suspicious transactions that couldn’t have been done by my mother however the lack of assistance is disappointing to say the least. As a bank they should have resources to investigate the receiver of these funds and come to us with enough evidence pertaining the receiver of these funds and it would be up to my mom to defend herself with her own proof that proves that her phone was hacked and she knows nothing of these transactions. FNB is failing a customer from a small rural town in the Eastern Cape that has probably never heard of phone hacking. Trust is broken, loyalty is lost cause if you can’t not cry to your bank when hackers, which happen to be one of their customers, attack you and ***** your money why stay with that bank. I would understand if money left my mom’s account and went to a different bank that they can not access as they wouldn’t have details of the receiver. This is honestly trash service from FNB.
