Account closure issues

If you want issues then you can bank with FNB.

Last year I requested account closure of an old account of mine. They told me I need to pay up my outstanding balance. I did pay that balance, and spoke to Jason on the FNB app secure chat. He told me the balance was paid up, and that he will request closure of my account, and that it will take 10 business days. I received a case number as well. After a year, suddenly I received messages that there are still transactions that wanted to go off from that account, which was confusing because surely the account was closed as communicated from FNB. I spoke to someone again on the FNB secure chat, no one could give me great service. As someone that also works with clients, and go out of my way to assist them as best I can, FNB did not succeed with that by far! They apparently phoned me twice, but they did not email me or sent me a message regarding the feedback, and also they kept on charging that account monthly with a fee. I was unaware of this. When my husband requested closure of his account last year, he had no problems or issues, and was not billed constantly to delay the process. It was so fast that his account was closed, and yet here I am having issues, and are billed on a monthly basis with no one to even try to solve the issue. All feedback I receive is “you need to pay that outstanding balance again” which FNB kept on billing me. With common sense, it make’s sense that when someone request closure of an account, that during the process the account is stopped from being billed for banking fees, because how on earth can someone then close an account if FNB keeps on billing and billing , and the account closure will never happen then. Now I need to pay R700 because FNB will never close that old account, and no one that I spoke to at FNB on the secure chat had the decency and the hard working skills to even try to resolve the problem, but just to tell me “you need to pay R700”.
