A new level of incompetence

In June 2006, yes 2006, my purse was ****** at Eastgate shopping centre. Obviously the first reaction was to call all the institutions where i had credit cards, account cards and stop these immediately. FNB Discovery Card was one of them. When asked if we wanted a replacement card from FNB, we declined as this was a secondary card that we seldom used - mistake number one. Obviously someone at FNB took it upon themselves to issue another card because in December of that year, we get a phone call from FNB asking when we intended paying the outstanding balance on the card. On inquiring what they were talking about, they informed us that over R100 000 (bear in mind the card had a R5000 limit) was spent on the card. So only 6 months later did they realise that money was outstanding. Under normal circumstances, one cent over the limit and the card gets stopped. Not this time!!!! I have tried a number of times to get through to the correct person to try and resolve this and have been told that the matter is under investigation at their ***** division. Not too effective after 11 years of investigating - this is the length they will go to in order to avoid the obvious - inside job!!! So now we are applying for a bond and the bond originator tried FNB, along with all the other banks and surprise surprise, they reject our application because of the card. So 11 years later, not only have their legal department NEVER heard of prescription, they have NEVER attempted to solve this issue successfully but have successfully listed us. Wonderful work FNB. You never cease to impress. I am so completely disgusted by this issue but also completely deflated in terms of trying AGAIN to sort it out.
