A cooling off period according to FNB Connect

I took out two contracts with FNB Connect, a voice and a data sim which I wanted to merge into one sim. On being told that they cannoct merge the two contracts into one Sim, I then requested a cancellation on the data contract. Their terms and conditions mentioned that i have a 7 day coling off period in which I can cancel these contracts. Still within my cooling off period and FNB refuses to refund the subscription that has already been deducted from my account bearing in mind that i have not even activated the sim in question. Options given to me are: immediate cancellation without a refund and a forfeiture of the allocated data, or a delayed cancellation which will take place a month and a half later after i pay another subscription at the end od December.

To me it seems the cooling off period is just a phrase on the terms and conditions which is not app**** in practice.
