A bank that wants its clients to default.

Pity they do not allow 0 stars as this is what FNB is worth. Been a loyal client for many years (more than 10) and done all my financials through them alone, even though doing so is is actually bad for your credit score, as you should have more than 1 credit supplier. These people are NOT RESPONSIBLE LENDERS as here is the proof. In 2018 I was self employed with a verifiable income of R6000 per month, having recently lost my job and being at a company that was in financial crisis for over a year, meant I had a very bad credit score. My total debts were at R45000, and my credit score just over 500. With many missed payments (how ever all my FNB payments were up to date). due to my financial problems I would have not been able to pay my rent, so I tried my luck and app**** for a R20 000 loan with FNB. Surprising it was approved the same day. Move forward 15 months. I got a new job, all my payments were up to date (save one which was being disputed) my credit score was improving (580) I had a fixed income of R20 000 per month. I needed money for a new fridge and rather than opening a new account and paying 2 bills went to FNB for a loan to cover the existing loan and the fridge. Total amount R 20 000, which would cost me R500 a month less than my current loan (was over a longer period) FNB rejected my loan and offered me the same amount but over 6 months meaning I would be paying R4000 a month. SO they will not let me borrow money at a rate I can afford but will borrow the money at a rate I was not able to afford. Very responsible of them NOT. I rejected their offer and eventually made a plan with African Bank (with whom I had not history. Jump forward to Tuesday. I needed some money for some security upgrades at my home. FNB was willing to give me R6000 over one month (NO WAY IN HELL I COULD MAKE THAT PAYMENT) Plus I needed more than that. I only had 1 month left on the loan they had given me when I was a real credit risk, and my scores were a lot better, (665) All my accounts were up to date (even the contested one) My total debts were R10 000. (2 years ago when they gave me a loan my credit score was 500 and my debts R45 000, my income was R5000, now my score 665, my debts R10 000 my income R22 000) all round a much lower risk, so I app**** for the loan (R30 000) the repayments would be R200 more than I was currently paying.. They rejected the application. So they willing to lend me money when I am EXTREME HIGH RISK, or if the amount (R6000) is way beyond what I can afford, but not if A) I can afford it (proven by the fact that in the 2 years of the previous loan I had not been late once or missed a single payment.) B) When I am a lower risk factor. and C) when my debts are well under control. FNB IS AN IRRESPONSIBLE LENDER that wants its clients be in financial crisis.

Later today I will be going to African Bank to open an account with them, from there my next stop will be FNB Cape Gate where I will be closing ALL my accounts and cancelling ALL my policies with them. PS FNB I got the loan approved else where and, unlike you who took 2 days to process it, they approved it in minutes (showing just how slow and behind the times you are.)

Good by and GOOD RIDDANCE.

Thank you for proving my point, their loans department just contacted me claiming I do not qualify for a long term loan, but can get one over six months, the repayment on their offer was way above what I can afford to pay.
They have failed to answer a simple question, why did I qualify when my rating, history and salary where much lower than now, and now I can only qualify for loans that I can not afford to repay?
Oh and they made my query a HIGH PRIORITY ie they will get back in 2 days, wonder how long a normal query would take these lazy, *********** people to respond to?
What takes FNB two days to do others do in under half an hour.
