6 days for pay and clear to reach NEDBANK customer from FNB account

I transferred funds to someone's Nedbank account on 11 January 2022, he received the R3500.00 on the 17 January 2022. I needless to say pay and cleared this transaction and still this took 6 days to reach him AND then I was charged a fee of R45.00 - what service is this ....
