5 YEARS. NO RESOLUTION OR COMMUNICATION

I had a Private Clients account back in 2019. I requested for the account to be closed once I left my job I had that time. After being assured it will be done, I came to find out that it has not been done.

The account accrued monthly account fees and interests, which was later converted into a loan on my name. I requested for it to be sorted in 2019, 2021 and again last year since I was not receiving ebucks. I was told that the account was converted to a loan and the balance must be settled in order to earn ebucks. I explained again that the account was not closed as requested and again, no resolution was met as I was yet again ignored as I was before with previous complaints.

Earlier this year, I raised another complaint which was ignored. A few weeks ago, I raised a complaint again which was now responded to and then again, I was ignored and promises were not kept. I then complained again and then contacted by someone from the complaints team. At that time, I had already opened a case with the ombudsman. I requested the following:

1: For the account to be closed and the balance removed. 2: For any ebucks that I had missed out on due to FNB's negligence to be added to my account. 3: To be offered additional compensation for the way this has been handled for 5 years.

Thankfully, the first request has now been met. The account was finally closed and the balance has been removed. However, I followed up on my other two requests and can you guess, for 10 marks, what happened after I followed up?

You guessed right! I got ignored, yet again. With the complaint already in tact with the NFO, I will allow the process to continue, should FNB continue to offer me a disservice. I will not mind consulting external lawyers as well and actually open a civil lawsuit against FNB and claiming much more because this is honestly the worst I have ever been treated by any company before.

I have NO CONFIDENCE that this review will do anything, but I have been patience and quiet for longer than any consumer should ever be. 5 YEARS!!!

Reviewer Update
Just so that the public know, FNB emailed me saying that they will be in touch in 5 business days.

The 5 business days lapsed on Friday. I emailed back and still have not received a response from them. Such a shame.
