3 months to close a bank account????

I would just like an explanation. I have paid the settlement amount for my cheque accou t, to have it closed in February. Your records indicate that you have received the money on the 1st of March. Yet, we are now on the 28th of May, months later and the account is still not closed as agreed upon. The funny thing really is that you are still adding interest and banking fees. How is this possible. This means that in 3 months you could not do a simple task like closing a bank account. Is this stupidity or incompetence or just plain laziness. Just explain how this is even humanly possible.
