20 Years of Loyalty, Gone in 20 Minutes
On the 16th of August, my phone was ******. I immediately called FNB and asked them to deactivate all cards linked to my phone. Instead ,they redirected me to the ***** line, which never answered. When I logged onto my banking app on my new phone almost all the cards were still active. On the 20th of August 2025, the ***** somehow managed to log into my FNB app and started making transactions. They transferred money from my savings into my cheque and credit accounts, spending R6k on my cheque account and close to R19k on my credit account. I am now sitting with a negative credit balance and being charged interest on money I never even spent. FNB refunded only R5,3k to my credit card and R1,6k to my cheque account. When I phoned to ask how these amounts were calculated, the consultant told me: “I don’t know.” When I asked if anyone could explain, I was told it’s “the money protection act” and they still could not explain how the decision was made to only refund such a meager portion. If you think your money is safe with FNB, think again. Their security is so poor that ********s managed to bypass both a PIN and facial recognition. After almost 20 years with FNB, I am beyond disappointed. #NotSoSafeBanking #20YearsOfLoyaltyForWhat
