Unprofessional Service and **************: A Nightmare Claims Experience

I submitted a handbag claim on October 4th, which was forwarded to the claims assessment department. I was provided with a list of required documents, which I promptly submitted in full. A week later, I followed up and was informed that the matter was being handled by Green Groenwald. Despite this, he only contacted me after my follow-up. During our first conversation, he claimed not to have received any of the documents I had sent to Nosipho Sikhosana, which was the first red flag.

Despite having all the necessary documents, he continued to delay the process with further unnecessary requests. A week later, I received an email from First for Women stating that my claim had been canceled due to my alleged failure to provide supporting documents—an outright falsehood. Thankfully, all my communications with Green Groenwald were conducted via email, clearly proving his dishonesty and lack of professionalism.

To this day, my claim remains unresolved. When I reach out to the dispute team, I am referred back to the same individual who has been nothing but *********. I am now being asked to visit the police station to obtain a copy of the police docket, a task that Green Groenwald has shown no interest in completing. This entire process feels like further victimization. Being ****** was traumatic enough, and now I am being forced to go to extraordinary lengths to prove my claim. I have explained that I am currently preparing for exams and that the ****** items included my school textbooks, yet no consideration has been given to my circumstances.

First for Women is quick to collect monthly premiums but refuses to take accountability when it comes to processing claims. They conveniently attribute delays to third-party claim handlers. I cannot help but wonder: would Green Groenwald have delayed my claim for over six weeks if I weren’t young and Black?

Dear 1st For Women Team,

Thank you for your acknowledgment of my complaint. However, I am extremely disappointed that, after five days, I have still not received any response or resolution. This delay is not only frustrating but is also reinforcing my concerns that my issue is being disregarded.

I can’t help but feel that this prolonged lack of communication is an attempt to dismiss my complaint, especially considering my background. It’s disheartening to feel like my concerns are being minimized or ignored because I am a young black women.
