Unfair arrears on credit profile

Good day, I took out a loan with First for Women (Direct Axis) in 2014. I paid on time until I fell sick. I requested to have my monthly instalments reduced because I was placed on temporary disability leave and divorced which made my financial burdens more Direct Axis refused to assist me with an arrangement. I was sent an sms stating that they loaded a default on my account. I called them to assist but they declined. Now they put my account on arrears for R64000 on my credit profile. My arrears are only R22000 this is *********. I have been calling Sanclare trying to sort out this matter but my attempts have been unfruitful they promised to call me back but that never happened. I offered to settle the account but they rejected my offer. My loan was R50000 I paid over R24000 towards the loan. How did it get to R64000. When you right off your bad debt are you allowed to inflate the debt that much? I asked them to pay my arrears as well and have my account up to date then continue with the payment arrangement but they refused that as well.
