Terrible Claims Processing - Under Payment of claim

I recently was the victim of theft, having both my vehicle and home contents with First For Women Insurance (under the Telesure umbrella) I have handbag cover/unspecified portable posessions cover included. In my policy schedule this is listed as R5000. The recent events have left me with a loss of well over this, the actual loss of the contents of my handbag equates to approximately R13,000. It is therefore expected that the Insurance company would take the claim at the maximum value of their policy schedule i.e R5000 and obviously deducting the excess, in my case R850. This would leave me with a claim settlement of R4150. Which still leaves me with a personal knock of R8850 - but this is a hard lesson I have to learn and going forward I will have to take the decision of insuring more expensive items as specified. However in this instance for whatever reason, First For Women have decided that they will settle under the amount that is on my policy schedule - despite me having followed all required steps, i.e logging the case with Police, doing a sim swap and Black listing the phone and providing them with the QITC number as well as the details of the Telecoms Provider whom the phone contract was with. This is absolutely appauling service and they should be ashamed. I will be taking this up with the Consumer Ombud, as it is pretty clear on my policy schedule that my handbag cover/unspecified items cover is R5000, whether they like it or not, that is the liability that they have offered me as their client but are now renegging on. I have had to call them 7 times to chase this claim, no one gets back to me. All I get is an e-mail telling me that the claim has been settled at a miniscule amount of R2650. This means that including the excess they have gone on R3500 handbag cover R1500 less than the cover that they themselves have stipulated in our agreement. Absolutely shocking.
