Pink Washing

I almost didn’t want to write this review because I want nothing to do with this company anymore, but consumers need to know.

I bought my first car in April last year and opted for First for Women as my insurer - they were so nice on the phone and it sounded like I’d be covered for everything if anything ever went wrong. And they’d support women right? So it was a no brainer.

I wish I had asked around a bit more beforehand. Almost 5 months later (August 2023), I was involved in an accident and my car was a write off. That’s when things started going downhill. The proposed payout was going to be a lot less that what I owed the bank, or what I bought the car for. I queried and disputed this because i didn’t choose to be covered for only market value. This process dragged on for 2 months. Communication also became less frequent to the point where I would get absolutely no response to my emails despite follow up. I’d call but everything just went in circles. The person seeing to my case had also left the company but I received no communication on who to contact until I contacted again first. Eventually I settled and they paid out. But even then, 3 months later, there was a letter outstanding from the bank that the insurance was meant to send me before they paid out. I didn’t receive that letter until later. I emailed but no response. And you know what set me off again now? They had the audacity to call recently to ask if I want to take up car insurance with them…

The name is misleading because here I am 8 months later, still fighting for my excess reimbur*****t (10K+) from the third party. And my insurance couldn’t care less. So ladies, don’t believe this pink washing and make an informed decision. At the end of the day these companies just want your money and will leave you high and dry when you have nothing more to give.
