Pathetic service for car insurance

Cancelled my car insurance policy with FFW as I got a more affordable option. After receiving confirmation letter with cancellation, I got a debit order the next day for car insurance. After calling the call centre, they told me there is nothing they can do and I must go sort it out with my bank! How am I supposed to get my money back?
