Without Prejudice

Policy number: ***

I wish to lodge my dissatisfaction with the manner in which my recent claim has been dealt with.
I lost two earrings (each from a different set) from the same ear in an incident and made a claim. A recent valuation was given with the cost of replacing one earing from each set.
I was told then by your claims consultant that I would be paid out R4000 less excess of R850 for the loss, which is also way less than their value. She then told me that this payment was subject to me dropping off the remain earrings that are pairs from the lost sets with a designated person so they could be used as salvage.
This is ridiculous as I am claiming for half a set of earrings times 2
The cost of these two earrings to be salvaged is greater than what you are paying me out and also they have sentimental value as are heirlooms. I refuse to do this as I think it's unreasonable and will have to call in the ombudsman if a settlement is not reached.

The purpose of insurance is to place the insured in a position as before the loss surely not in a lesser demise?
