Negligent and stressful claims process

I'm not even sure where to start this review.

I now fully understand why insurance is considered a grudge purchase.

I bought a home a few months ago and recently moved in. There was a storm two weeks ago and it caused some damage. I call 1st for women and they say they'll send out an assessor. I wait an ENTIRE work week for an assessor to come out. During this time, I call almost daily to find out what's going on, to their benefit they kept in touch but this assessor did not come out when they said "possibly today".

The assessor comes out and I wait over a week for an outcome, claim denied due to lack of maintenance. The claim report shows an absurd amount and things we DIDN'T want to claim for. We had an independent contractor come out and he quotes much less.

I responded to our claims processor with this information and questions, that was two days ago. Still no response. I get the feeling they just don't care. This process was drawn out and stressful. More rain is coming so I presume the damage will be exacerbated which I won't be able to claim for.

I'm disappointed with the lack of interest this company has shown. Their attitude is basically "we're doing you a favor", not that I'm a paying customer entrusting my livelihood to you.

I hope this review is somewhat educational if you're looking for an insurer.
