Information with held regarding the Policy details regarding specifying the portable items & house hold content

I took out a house hold insurance with1st For Women.

One of the things that made the 1st For Women policy catchy for me was the free handbag and portable items(cellphone) covered.

Being trusty enough one never know that there is a catch behind all of this.

I got ****** of my cellphone at gun point on the morning of 22.10.2016 and I contacted the insurance company the same day regarding claiming. To my surprise when I enquired about claiming, I was told by the consultant that sadly my phone is not covered as it was notspecified in the policy. Being shook by the comment, I asked her what she meant and that’s when I learned that day that “apparently” I was supposed to give the cellphones, tablet etc. and/or any portable items that I own’ s details to the insurance company being 1st For Women.

I told the consultant that this was the first time that I got to hear about that as I was told that my cellphones etc. are covered and I was never asked to specify and/or verify my portable items or house hold content. Being annoyed and irritated, I asked her what will happen in case of some of my house hold content get burned or ****** and this is when I also got to hear her telling me that “then I would be required to produce a picture/ receipt of the items to verify. I said to her that was ridiculous as this information was never shared with the client (me) during the time of the policy activation. And her respond was that she will ask someone to investigate and pull out the recording of the call between me and the consultant whom activated my policy and she told me that this will tay 7 -10 days and I am still waiting!

So my advice to anyone out there whom is currently a member and/or a client of 1st For Women specifically for House Hold cover to please contact this insurance company and ensure that you list all the portable items that you want to cover and request that they send you a house hold inventory list to complete - I was shook when I enquired after my incident and got told by the consultant as well that there is an inventory list that one can complete. I believe this and the fact that the client must specify their portable items should be the first thing that the insurance company should mention to the person before activating the policy – I never to any of this information and I am very unhappy with this service I received.

The investigation is complete however have not been able to reach you to discuss the outcome.

We apologise if we have created the impression that we offer free cell phone cover, we do require the item to be specified in order to enjoy the benefit of cover in the event of a loss.

Reviewer Update

Dear First For Women Team,

Thanks for reverting and taking the time to try and contact me. I am not always checking my phone for incoming calls and I am mostly in meetings. I would appreciate it if your consultanct can leave voice messages on my phone with their direct number and I can call them back.

I have provided another alternative number and all Iget is missed calls from unknown / private number, how can one return a phone call when there is no voice message guiding one when they want to return the missed call?

Thanks,

An unhappy client
