I got an accident and my car is not badly damaged more especially on the engine

I got an accident and my car is not badly damaged more especially on the engine. According to them its only tge radiator that was damaged on the engine side. Now thet want to right-off my car. According to my knowledge the vehicle can be written off if the airbags are out. So now they tell that the value of my car is equal to the cost of my car. So i am asking myself whats the purpose of paying insurance if they tell about the value of tge vehicle. I don't want my car to be written of. If tgey can't fix it i want my car back.
