GUARDIAN ANGELS..... HAHAHAHA! WHAT A JOKE!
SUMMARY OF EVENTS
1. I am an Insured with 1st For Women with Policy number: *** which policy commenced on 17 May 2022 (proof attached).
2. My insured vehicle was comprehensive insured namely a 2011 Toyota Yaris Zen 3 ACS 5DR with a RETAIL VALUE being applicable with a basic excess of R6,500.00 (proof of my Summary of Cover also attached) and I confirm that all instalments were paid up to date till the loss of the vehicle.
3. On Wednesday, 21 September 2022, two (2) days before my wedding my insured vehicle ****** at my hairdressers’ premises, which was secured with an electrical security gate.
4. I immediately contacted the Brooklyn Police station, who arrived at the scene of the crime momentarily after the incident. I gave a statement and a case was opened with Case Number: 513/9/2022.
5. Subsequent to me attending to the police and giving them the necessary/required information, I lodged a claim with 1st For Women via my App and at 13:44 they confirmed that I successfully submitted my claim.
6. 1st For Women provided me with a claim number on the App which is DE*** at 13:44 on Wednesday, 21 September 2022;
7. At the same time (15:22) as at 6 above, I got informed that Taslima Kangar is my advisor.
8. I rep**** at 15:27: “Hi Thalisma”. At 16:43 Thalisma informed me that she will contact me the next day i.e. Thursday, 22 September 2022.
9. Upon receipt of the message above (and even in the same minute i.e., 16:43, I sent a copy of the case number I received via SMS from the SAPS.
10. Thalisma only called me the next day after 16:00 and subsequent to me requesting her 4x to call me (proof of same will be screenshot and printed)
11. On Monday, 26 September 2022 I sent a message on the App enquiring if the Insurer requires anything more from me. Thando called me and said he will revert to me.
12. On Tuesday, 27 September 2022 I yet again sent a message on the App because getting in touch of the relevant person telephonically is almost impossible. 13. I never had the courtesy of a reply.
14. On Friday, 30 September 2022 I yet again attempted to get feedback, to no avail.
15. I only received a response on Saturday, 1 October 2022 that they will call me on Monday.
16. On Monday, 3 October I received a message on the App that my claim has been finalized yet in my opinion nothing has been finalized.
17. I might mention that the Insurer deducted my policy amount for October but refunded same, yet in November they did they same, which debit order bounced and resulted in debit fees of R109. I will attend to this issue on a later stage but deem it fit to ask WHY was this amount deducted since nothing is insured with them at the moment.
18. Only on 10 October 2022 I received an email from Taonga Phiri the Insurer require my ‘Original Copy’ – up to date I don’t know what original copy. But let’s presume it is my Identity Copy. Unfortunately, my Identity Document was ****** with my car.
19. The Insurer also requested my spare keys, and vehicle deregistration form. I immediately attended to same.
20. What is of interest to note is that they required me to DELIVER the aforesaid to their address in Riverglen, Dainfern. How on earth do they expect me to do this when I don’t have a car???? Remember, it was ******!!! Maybe one of their Guardian Angels can pick it up and quickly fly there. Who knows?!!?
21. I never heard anything from the Insurer since 10 October 2022 and I decided to approach a professional in the field with more than 30 years’ experience. I furnished Mrs Van Der Walt with a Power of Attorney to act on my behalf and on 18 October 2022 she emailed the Insurer. I do not deem it necessary to attach all this correspondence at this stage, but it will be made available upon request.
22. All of a sudden subsequently to my agent contacting them, I received an email on 10 October 2022 requesting me to complete a change of ownership. Why wasn’t this send with the request for the keys and deregistration? (8 DAYS LATER).
23. On 21 October 2022 I sent the Insurer an email that I do not accept their pay-out amount.
24. The insurer never even had the courtesy to reply to my agent.
WITH ALL THE ABOVE BEING SAID AND DONE: MY COMPLAINT IS AS FOLLOWS
1. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THE PAY-OUT AMOUNT AND REITERATE THAT I HAVE CONFIRMATION OF THE RETAIL AMOUNT AS ATTACHED.
2. I ALSO DO NOT AGREE WITH THE EXCESS AMOUNT AND ALTHOUGH I DON’T HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF THE INDUSTRY, I WOULD LIKE SAME TO BE EXPLAINED TO ME FOR UNDERSTANDING.
3. All correspondence and annexures will be made available upon request.
Kindly note that your matter has been escalated to the relevant team, they will contact you during office hours with feedback.
