First for women infringement on consumer rights

First for women insurance is infringing on my mother’s consumer rights. They took my mother’s vehicle for repairs at Suspension City Maitland last month. My mother drove the vehicle for only a couple of days and the vehicle leak reoccurred again. First for women towed the vehicle to Suspension City Montague gardens on 31 July and have informed my mother today that they will not be covering the costs of the leak. My mother is in distress as she and my physically disabled brother have been inconvenienced and with no transport by this poor service and lack of accountability from the insurer. The manner in which First for women is handling the reoccurrence of the damage on my mother’s vehicle has been poor, yet they receive their monthly premiums without fail. I do not understand why the vehicle was not sent to the same Suspension City for reassessment of the leak, as my mother paid them over R4000 for access last month. The lack of accountability on the part of First for women is appalling and the avoidance in addressing this matter shows the complete disregard for her as a consumer and her rights. It is clear the damage on the vehicle was not completed correctly the first time around, as my mother is stuck with the same problem within less than a month after the repair. If First for women is not prepared to cover the costs for this repeat repair, they should reimburse my mother her access which she paid last month, then she can find an alternative repair centre to complete the job properly. As far as I know any job carried out on a vehicle from an accredited repair center (RMI accredited) has a 12 month warranty. This is clearly not the case with my mother’s vehicle, so I want a solution to the problem and her consumer rights to be considered. This matter has not only left my mother without a car but also affects my disabled brothers ability to attended doctors appointments. I would sincerely appreciate urgent assistance with the matter, as it has carried on for far longer than necessary.
