DISSAPOINTED AND ANGRY HOW INSURANCE COMPANIES DO THEIR BUSINESS AND NOT BRING TRANSPARENT FROM THE ONSET

On the 29th Jan 24, I submitted a claim for the roof which was blown by the heavy storm on that afternoon, an assessor came through the Thursday and assessed, since then I have not had any response or update for a progress report, and I have been making calls and still no update they say still under review, yesterday when I checked on the app, the claim was finalized, and still no one has called and I was promised when I called that it’s under review and I’ll get a call by yesterday afternoon before close of business, I called this morning and I got an update to say the roof was dilapidated, in 2021/222 there was a heavy storm and when I submitted the claim it was repudiated, WHEREAS MY QUERY IS WHY DID THEY INSURE US WITHOUT FIRST CHECKING ON THE BUILDING IF IT MEETS THEIR BUILDING STANDARDS QUESTIONS THEY ASK YOU “ NONE OF THE QUESTIONS ONE IS ASKED IF THE TIMBER SUPPORTING THE ROOF IS DILAPIDATED OR NOT, now they declined the claim for that, WHEREAS IN 2021/22 if they fixed the roof at the time when I claimed, we would not be where we are now, THIS VERY ROOF HAS BEEN SERVING THE PURPOSE OF A GARAGE WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS, after the storm I’m told this nonsense, THE SAME WAY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES SEND ASSESSORS AT CLAIM STAGE, THIS IS WHAT THEY SHOULD DO AT INITIAL STAGE OF BEING INSURED IF THEY ARE “ FAIR TO THEIR CLIENTS AND HAVE INTEGRITY AND THEY FOLLOW TCF, because now one gets these surprises when one claims, THERE WAS A HEAVY STORM ON THAT PARTICULAR DAY AND WE DO HAVE SASRIA COVER FOR SUCH.

- questions I was asked when taking up insurance
- what type of roof we have whether corrugated iron or roof tiles “ ASK THE RELEVANT AND SPECIFIC QUESTIONS THAT YOU KNOW WONT SABOTAGE THE CLIENTS AT CLAIM STAGE
- being fair to clients and upfront with them, DID YOU ASK ME “ State of the timber supporting the roof sheeting????????
“ FROM 2021 to date, +- R98000 has been debited religiously from the bank account “, and now we having a problem we need assistance you come with your tricks as usual
There hasn’t been any claim on the roof from then
- BEFORE THE STORM THE ROOF WAS SERVING THE PURPOSE, and THE STORM DAMAGED THE GARAGE ROOG,. THIS IS WHY PEOPLE IN GENERAL DO NOT TRUST INSURANCE COMPANIES BECAUSE OF THIS
- and coming to claim stage I’m told the roof was dilapidated and timber was rotting “ DID YOU COME AND ASSESS THE BUILDING IF IT IS ACCORDING TO YOUR BUILDING STANDARDS BEFORE GOING AHEAD WITH DEDUCTING PAYMENTS FROM US, so the R98k+ we’ve paid to you for nothing, to up your book-value/ profits and when one is desperate and need your help one struggles, has to go back and forth with you guys, whereas we are unemployed you get your premiums on time,WHAT IS THIS NOW?????
