Disappointed with Service and Repurchase of ****** and recovered Vehicle

Hi to all, on the 31st of July 2016 my vehicle was ****** and thankfully to the swift response from Tracker and the Chatsworth Bayview Police services and their teams my vehicle had been recovered within 45 min. The incident was reported and filed to the insurance company and my vehicle had been impounded. The insurance company had informed me that they were working with the claim and were processing all claim related enquiries as prior to my car being ****** i had filed a claim for rain damage to my property due to the heavy showers we had experienced. I am very saddened to say that even after notifying the insurance company that should my vehicle be written off i would like to repurchase it as i do not have the means to undertake a financial outlay on a brand new vehicle as my vehicle was free owned. They said that i would have the first preference on the buy back of the vehicle, however to my suprise i was asked to contact auction nation with regards to the repurchase of my vehicle and that they had nothing to do with the sale of the vehicle. I had contacted them concerning the prodcedure and the cost of the repurchase, what confuses me is that my vehicle had been written off because the assessed amount of damages amounted to R47000,00 with the Book value of my car being R64300,00. The auction house is now selling the car back to me at R 40000,00 and this does not make financial sense in as to how they wrote my vehicle of in the first instance. My understanding of a vehicle repurchase or buy back is that you as the owner of the vehicle ,have the first preference to buy back the vehilce for repair and that the insurance house will payout the portion of the insured value minus the excess and cost of repurchase therefore leaving you with the amount assessed for damages to repair the vehicle. In this instance i would like to know what calculation had been done for them to now ask me to pay R40 000,00 for a vehicle with damages assessed at R47000,00 and having and insured book value of R64300,00 ? I am truly unsatisfied and feel violated more than just having my vehicle ****** but also now to find myself without a vehicle and having to be indebted because of this matter. Further more the claim i had made for my property as been partially accepted as not all affected areas from the rain damage is being covered yet we as consumers pay to insure our valuables and then find that we dont get the service we need... so why take insurance ? I've been insured for many years now and this is my very 1st claim and i am truely unsatisfied as when it comes to these companies taking their payment every month everything happens fast but when the tables have turned and you seriously have a problem you have to run in circles and take time off work to have everything sorted out. Very unsatisfied consumer.
