Did a FFW contractor ***** from me during a tyre change?

Long read, worth it though.

My dealings with First For Women are usually positive, and so I've been relatively happy to be insured by them. This changed when I (first time car owner) realized recently that I may have been ****** from by a FFW contracted responder - a 'guardian angel’ - long ago.

I was assisted by FFW one evening on my way home - I experienced a punctured tyre. Traveling alone on a quiet old road, I was afraid for my safety so I stayed in my car, called FFW and waited for the responder. After a worryingly long time he arrived. He demeanor was distant and just a little off so I didn’t feel totally safe and ‘rescued’ I brushed this off but I did follow my instinct to stay in my car. I was still in the car when he finalized the tyre change and I stayed in the car until we both left the scene together. Before we left he told me the job was done and I was safe to be on my way. I drove straight to my accommodation. Unpacking my boot, I noticed that the spare tyre cavity and boot only had the collection of tools in it - no damaged wheel or naked rim in there. I really did not think anything of it and that was a big mistake. Again as a first time car owner, I didn’t know my rim should be in there and I didn’t think of it any further. I was just happy that I was safe and my car was still mine so I moved on with life. I drove with my spare wheel for a while and when I tried to finally buy a new tire recently, I was told that I was supposed to still have my fourth rim in the boot. All this time, and since the night of the incident, I did not have my wheel or original rim in the boot.

I contacted FFW about this and they were helpful at first but quickly dismissed my query because the FFW responder had uploaded a photo he took on the night of the incident showing my wheel sitting in my main boot space. They think this is proof that I left the scene with my now missing rim. But my boot and back seat was carrying bags of luggage that night because I was on a trip at that time. I unpacked my boot once I reached my destination and I checked the car top. So, I know my missing rim and punctured tyre was not in the position that the FFW’s image shows it being at hours after the phot was taken. I would have seen it while unpacking my car, and I think I would have resented my boot floor getting soiled by a dirty wheel. I did not have the rim or wheel in my car, and the last person to interact with it was the FFW representative.

A gentleman from FFW’s First Assist is of the belief that the image proves that their third party responder is innocent and there is nothing to investigate further. This is even after I have indicated to him that there is a suspicious flaw in their story. Now because of these images I am even more suspicious of foul play, and I think this is what might have happened: The third party responder might have seen an opportunity to take the rim for himself since I stayed in the car and wasn't watching him. I think he staged **** proof of a completed task by placing the wheel in the boot, taking a photo of the task and then taking the wheel back out again. Then he sent me on my way.

FFW not only 1. dismissed my request for financial assistance to replace my rim(s) but also 2. dismissed my valid concern that they might be hiring questionable third party responders. The possibility of the second fact has left me lost for words and unfortunately l don’t feel safe as a female driver insured by FFW. I just think that if your whole brand is being a safe haven for women, then you should be willing to investigate potential sources of danger within the very service you provide to a woman in a precarious situation. Sure, people make things up all the time, but the chance that I’m mistaken is not enough of a worthwhile reason to dismiss my concerns with no attempt to dig deeper and hope I don’t escalate the issue. Speaking of escalating, I don’t believe I wish to fight this corporation, but I am left feeling a little uneasy. So, because of how the process of resolving my concern has gone, I plan on leaving FFW this year on a sour note.

Trust me, I don’t believe I have much of a strong ‘case’ against FWW on paper since they have this interesting photo in their records, amongst other reasons. After all, I might indeed be incorrect or wrong in suspecting FFW or its contractors of being guilty here. I do consider that to be a small possibility. If I am wrong, I’d regret giving out any inaccurate accusations to any undeserving parties.

I’m taking this ordeal as a lesson to always take note of details in situations where I feel vulnerable, so that in the future I can avoid being ****** from (if I can safely help it), and I can have proof ready if I ever have to verify my experience one day. The reason why I share this story is so it can serve as a warning for any young or first time femme drivers out there who are insured by a company that seems trustworthy and therefor that makes them think their safety will be preserved when assisted by said company and whoever it hires. Because that’s not the case. You can’t let your guard down, ever. Especially when dealing with third party individuals. People can be opportunists and are sneaky too. Stay safe and use your discernment always. Double check everything - definitely during but especially after any traumatizing incidents that you would try to forget about instead of assessing thoroughly.
