DENIED CLAIM AT 1ST FOR WOMEN

We had terrible floods in Amanzimtoti during the last week in July 2016. Pools of water that could not run off quickly enough, gathered around 2 rooms of my house, the rain was metered at 400mm in 20 minutes and it was icy cold. Two days later I noticed that the tiles inside these rooms started to lift up. I immediately phoned 1st For Women with whom I am insured to lodge a claim for the damage. I had to wait almost 3 weeks for the outcome of the claim as they have received enormous amounts of claims from Amanzimtoti residents. During this waiting period I had to endure the mess in my house while waiting for them but I accepted it, anxiously awaiting payout so that I could start replacing the tiles. No written confirmation or correspondence was received by me - everything was done telephonically. I did not even receive a claim number. I submitted the following dispute to 1st For Women today and am awaiting their response:

"Your email refers. I am very unhappy re the way my claim was handled:
FIRSTLY - My whole claim was handled telephonically -
No written acknowledgement of claim was received
Nno claim number was received -
I cant even remember the date that I telephonically submitted the claim - I only know it was in July after the floods in Amanzimtoti
In other words I have no proof - every person needs written proof of important happenings in life.
I have been informed throughout the claim period of the progress on the claim telephonicallyvthough.
I havent even been informed in writing of the outcome of my claim
SECONDLY FACTS OF THE CLAIM - It rained 400mm in 20 minutes,
pools of water gathered around the two rooms of which the tiles lifted -
the temperature dropped suddenly and the rain was ice cold.
It is obvious that the tiles shrunk and then set out again 2 days after the rain (when the tiles started lifting up).
THIRDLY - I happen to speak to 3 other residents in Toti who happened to have the same incident of tiles lifting without the water even getting inside their houses and their claims were paid out.
FOURTHLY - You are advertising that you are there for the women in the country and to look after their interest - I am a widowed pensioner, believe in insurance (with a very tight budget) but it is of no benefit to me if my claim/s (which I truly think was wrongly denied) are handled in this way.
I really expected much more from 1st FOR WOMEN.

I hope you will reconsider denial of payout of this claim and trust for a favourable outcome.

Regards

I am also sending a copy of this email to Hellopeter.
