Asked to put insurance on ice

I got a quote from First for woman, and I also sent them a mail, requesting to please put the insurance on ice, as I can not afford it at this point in time, and that I would contact them to put it in place once I'm ready, however they just went ahead and took money from my account, I'm in big trouble as this was my transport money and food money. I was admitted to hospital, and my daughter tried to sort it out on my behalf, but they just told her that they don't have the time now but when they are quiet then they will look at it, so what do I do in the mean time? They are eager to take money, but not so eager to help and re-embers me? Please can someone help? They also told my daughter that they would contact me, 2 days have passed, and no one has made any attempt to contact me.
