1st for Woman....****************!

One year ago when finding quotes to insure my new secondhand car, 1st for woman gave a great rate. To my surprise my monthly premium promtly went up by just over 20% without so much as a letter or warning? On calling the call centre I was put through to the retension department where a man was able to cut the increase from 20% - 10% and I was told that nothing else on my premium would change.... SERIOUSLY? I waited ALL day for them to resend me a breakdown of my "new" policy only to see once I did receive it that my EXCESS had gone up by approximately 138% ??????????? This is unacceptable! A vehicle depreciates yet they charge you more to insure it every month, seriosly??? So they catch you on the sign up year then SCR*W you for he rest of your policy! Not only does petrol, food, rent etc go up but for insurance to go up for no apparent reason this is just ****************.

We acknowledge receipt of your complaint.
We have noted that you have been in contact with our Customer Care Department to enquire regarding your latest premium increase. As you are aware your policy is reviewed on an annual basis. As we have seen in recent years insurance premiums, as everything else, is unfortunately also on the rise.
When a policy is reviewed there are a wide range of factors that will be considered in order to determine your new premium. These factors will have a profound effect on the replacement and repairs of motor vehicles and household goods as a number of these items and components are imported.
The use of the latest technology and improved methods to analyse risk underwriting has enabled us to have a much clearer understanding of risk underwriting as well as the wide range of factors which will influence the risk ratings of insurable goods and circumstances. This has led to new risk ratings and inevitable fee structures that may apply in certain instances.
You do have the option of reducing your excess again; however the premium will increase. We understand your dissatisfaction in this regard but can confirm that your new premium is correct in terms of our risk rating and fee structures.
Kind Regards
