1st for woman approved claim yet won’t fix my car.

I am covered with 1st for woman, I got into a car accident and my claim was approved and car taken to their approved mechanic. 2 weeks later I get a call from the insurance to fetch my car from the mechanic, they will give me money to fix it myself, they won’t give me a list of their recommendations for the mechanics and the reason that they can’t fix it is because they have discovered way too much damages. For a company that is “1st for woman” to expect me to fix my own car for damages that is specifically covered by them. Does this even make sense??
