Suspected ***** with Fuel Charge
A VW Polo Vivo was rented on 25+26 Nov 2014. As happens only when one has a car for a while, we started noticing the stale tobacco smell when it was parked in the sun, and dirt and broken glass under the seats when looking for the seat belt latch. As I had driven some dirt roads, and to avoid blame for all the aforementioned, I had the car valeted (at my own expense), while also filling up the fuel, in Kempton Park right before returning it.<br> On receiving the invoice I noticed a charge of R195.36 for fuel. This is almost 15 liters, or one third of the car's 45L fuel tank. At a consumption of 6.2L/100km, this would be sufficient for about 240kms.<br> This was queried, and after an \investigation"that took 3 weeks"

With regards to your comments on being charged for fuel, We would like to advise that regardless of what the fuel gauge says at time of return, each and every vehicle is sent from our branch to be refuelled to ensure that all of our customers receive a full tank of fuel upon collection. Although some of our clients do refuel before returning, the petrol attendants do not always fill the tank to capacity. Upon standing the air escapes which leaves space for us to add fuel.
In this instance the tank was filled with 14.845 litres of fuel at R13.15 per litre bringing the refuelling amount to R195.36. Proof of refuelling was sent to you.
We have put fuel hangers into our vehicles informing our customers not to refuel the vehicles upon return as they will be sent for refuelling regardless of what the gauge shows and that the customer will be billed accordingly.
Due to the above, the refuelling charges remain applicable.
