Saving a few bucks will cost you a lot!

As usual I got ******* renting from First car as they are slightly cheaper than other companies.

I saked for a compact family car and ended up with an Etios, 40,000km on the clock.

I did pay the extra R35 a day to reduce my excess from R8500 to R2500 and through a promo we got one additional driver for free.

During our rental we got got the wheel caps ******, they had no ties to secure them to the car. We returned the car and advised that the wheel caps had been ****** and we did replace them.

Few days later I get a invoice, for additional driver. After some exchanges, I finally get a refund. Few days later, I get a new invoice, for wheel caps and handling fee, exceeding my R2500 excess. After some further exchanges, I received a final answer, advising that I am not entitled to conduct any repairs on the car and should have not replaced the wheels caps. I get charged R2300 for 14 inches wheels caps + R600 handling fee. Why did I pay an extra fee to lower my excess then?

In the past my sister was visiting from overseas and she rented a car through First car as well and when returning the vehicle, she was advised she would be charged extra for the wheel caps that had been pinched (no ties to secure them there again) and for cleaning as there was sand inside the car. She had used the car for three weeks and still got charged for cleaning!

First car will find any reason not to refund you fully and/or charge you extra...
