First Car Rental Thievery

I rented a car from First Car Rental in December 2015. Firstly the car check was done with me with one of their security personnel at the Cape Town Airport branch! Is that normal practice of the company? Secondly, towards the end of my rental period I found that there was a slow puncture on one of the tyres. I subsequently fixed it at my own expense just to be charged by the company for the replacement of the tyre. According to them the car was checked(by their security person!) and no fault was recorded. Obviously, a slow puncture is what it is. It can only be noticed a few days later by the customer but I am sure First Car Rental was aware of the problem. But that is just symptomatic of the poor reputation this company has and I urged the general public not to to make use of the services of this company. They are are a thieving dishonest little company and should be boycotted at all costs!

Hello jeremyjerome,

As per previous correspondence all charges are valid and documentation has been attached for your ease of reference. You never notified us of any tyre trouble although you travelled over ****m with our vehicle, as explained to you we would have gladly assisted you if you advised us in a reasonable timeframe.

HelloPeter is a useful tool for exceptional cases, but any reputable company would agree that the site is also known to highlight cases where the customer is unfortunately not always right, almost a last stop for cases where there truly was no resolve between a consumer and a company - we have more compliments on social media platforms where registration is not required than complaints. We have more than 16,000 check-outs per month, and we are a JSE Listed company - our loyal and regular customers have a very different opinion to yours and the few complaints by comparison on Hello Peter when compared to the thousands upon thousands of satisfied and elated customers. We would never traditionally post a reply like this, it is considered bad social media protocol, but you have left us with no option but to do so.
