I book a rental online at a discounted rate in Feb. A week before my trip I investigated adding a second driver. With the original quoted fee almost doubling, I declined that option. Or that is what I thought. First car rental viewed that as an acceptance, but no correspondence was sent following that enabling me to dispute before taking delivery. On delivery I kicked up a stink and requested an cancellation. They “accommodated” me by changing the contract stating only a marginal fee increase. This was all smoke and mirrors to get you to sign the contract. Which by now you are so exhausted that you take the rental agents explanation as truth. Insert unsavoury expletive here. Upon return of the car I still got a full invoice. Which I still need to pay as they split the deposit/********* money in two portions. So to get the first refund, I need to settle balance. The worst thing was that as I was going thorough this, all other check-outs where foreigners. Not one person walked out there happy. The biggest reason for this was not only the double deposit, but also how much more it was than was originally quoted, mine was 20% more. Now view this on the basis that for a entry level rental it is already R9000. I’ve pleaded my case with their customer service department. Absolutely now luck. My only hope is that people check their trust status before making the same mistake I did.
