A Disappointing Experience with First Car Rental
I am writing to express my profound disappointment with the service I have received from First Car Rental. I have been renting cars from your company for an extended period, and I am sad to say that recent events have left me both frustrated and disheartened.
My ordeal began when I initially rented a vehicle from the Pretoria Branch. The car was due for service, which prompted me to return it to the Polokwane Branch, which was more convenient for me. Unfortunately, the vehicle I received had a malfunctioning e-tag. I promptly reported this issue at the Polokwane Branch, also inquiring about the petrol reimbur*****t that was owed to me due to the inconvenience. To my shock, the branch manager at Polokwane dismissed my concerns, stating that I would need to "argue" this matter at the end of the rental period.
Frustratingly, the e-tag issue persisted, even after the branch assured me that it would be resolved. A week later, as I approached a toll gate, the e-tag remained inactive. This compelled me to return to the Pretoria Branch to address the ongoing issue. As a result of the continuous troubles, the car was exchanged multiple times. Throughout these exchanges, I repeatedly inquired about the time and petrol that I had invested due to these inconveniences. Unfortunately, none of the managers were able to provide any satisfactory responses.
My dissatisfaction reached a climax in early October when I had reserved a car for a full month. I had paid the full amount in advance for this rental, as my personal vehicle was undergoing repairs. Last week, I began receiving persistent and unwarranted calls from an individual named Hannelie van Zyl, urging me to return the vehicle. I explained my rental period, but the harassment continued throughout the week. I subsequently spoke with the Polokwane Branch Manager, Frank Davhana, who insisted I return the car, despite my month-long booking. The conversation escalated and became heated, leading me to terminate the call as I felt harassed.
To my shock, Frank Davhana and Hannelie van Zyl escalated the matter further, involving your Risk Recovery department. I was subsequently treated as if I were a ********. I was tracked and faced further unwarranted harassment by First Car Rental employees who failed to recognize the inappropriateness of their actions.
An encounter with Hannelie van Zyl at the Hartfield Branch only served to exacerbate the situation. She treated me rudely, shouting and banging her hands on the table in front of other clients. It is deeply concerning that her actions were not addressed by the company. My frustration peaked when, after all these issues, I was expected to return the vehicle with a full tank of petrol, despite the inconveniences I had endured.
I wish to emphasize that my intention was to continue my business relationship with First Car Rental. However, the distressing events I have described have driven me to terminate my contract and seek a car rental service that values its customers and offers the level of service I had come to expect.
It is with great regret that I express my profound disappointment in the service I have received from First Car Rental. I can no longer recommend your company to others based on the recent treatment I have experienced.
