Useless and ***********: Telkom Mobile and Insurance Company "Finrite"
Reference Number: TC015760 (Contact Person: Luyanda Pupu)
On the 24th February 2019, I had my bag together with my two cellphones ****** from my vehicle at Scottsville Mall in Pietermaritzburg. The bag was inside my car when the incident happened, the incident was caused by remote jamming of the door lockers and i was not aware of this at the time when it happened until I further investigated and asking the people around if they had any similar incident. On the same day at around 15:00 in the afternoon I went to Alexander Road Police Station to report the incident and also went to Telkom Midlands Mall to block the phones as well.
On Monday the 25th February I phoned Finrite to lodge a claim and they requested that I should email an affidavit together with my ID copy for processing and indicated that it will take between 3-5 working days to finalize the process. The two devices ****** from the vehicle were Samsung Note 5 and iPhone 6S which were insured by Finrite as part of Telkom Insurance which was taken almost three years ago as a business contract.
On the 28th February 2019, I did a follow up telephonically with Finrite and was told that all the documents were received in good order and the claim has been escalated.
Again on the 1st March 2019 I did another follow-up telephonically with Finrite regarding the status of the claim and I was advised that only one device was covered on their system. I went back to Telkom (Shelly Beach) and they gave me proof that both devices were covered at the time of the incident. On the same day I then sent an email to Finrite with the document I received from Telkom, I was then informed that the claim has been escalated. This has been happening since the 25th Feb and now its been almost two weeks without any joy, no proper feedback nor correspondence from Finrite except when I have to personally phone them again and again for feedback. I have been doing follow ups telephonically almost every second day as i am not receiving any feedback from Finrite and up to date unfortunately there has been no luck.
On the 3rd and 4th March 2019, I did follow-ups with Finrite and was told that the claim has been escalated again.
Today, 09 March 2019, two weeks later, I phoned Finrite again to check on the progress and I was told that they want proof of forced entry into the vehicle where the phones were ******. I then indicated to them again that there was no forced entry however the vehicle lockers were remotely jammed by ********* and that is the only proof I have and its also stated on the sworn affidavit that was submitted to them on the 25th February 2019.
For the past two weeks I've had no phones to run my business, I can't access emails, I can't make or receive calls, I'm actually losing business with my clients. This is completely unacceptable and unfair. I've been a loyal customer to Telkom and Finrite for almost three years and I do not deserve this kind of treatment and service from them.
After careful consideration, poor and *********** service by Telkom and its insurance company Finrite I have decided to terminate both contracts with Telkom and also terminate insurance with Finrite with immediate effect. And I will never recommend Telkom and Finrite to anyone especially business people. Telkom and Finrite are useless and ***********.
