Phone less

Hi handed in cellphone to courier company end February 2020. Lockdown period phone was not in my possession nevertheless my insurance was being deducted . February till July. Now I still need to pay excess of R200. Is this fair. Paid over R240 for phone not in my possession. Do I still need to pay the excess before I get my phone replaced
