****MED BY FINCHOICE AND THEIR AGENTS

On the ...On the 4th of December 2024 I was called by home choice telling me that I have credit with them and would I like to buy something on credit. I advised the agent that Ido not want to buy but would like to settle my FINCHOICE account, knowing that FINCHOICE is part of HOMECHOICE. The agent gave me a whatsApp number registered as FINCHOICE and advised that I will get the account details, settlement amount and paid-up letter from there. I made contact with the FINCHOICE whatsApp number given and was given my settlement amount as well as a paid up letter with the FINCHOICE letterhead. A week later I was called by FINCHOICE advising that I needed to make a payment, I gave them the paid-up letter and advised that I had paid my account the week before. I sent them the paid-up letter and they advised that the account number used for the payment did not belong to them and they advised that they would investigate as according to them I was ****med. The final verdict according to their investigation was that I unfortunately was ****med and the account number did not belong to them so I had to still pay them. How am I liable when I was given the whatsApp number by one of their agents from their registered call centre number? They need to do an internal investigation as one of their agents is de*****ing customers. Did they even listen to the call with the agent that gave me the wrong information?
