Exorbitant charges that no one can explain? Finchoice is a ****

On the 3rd of December I received an email stating that my monthly payment would go off on the 17th and that I had to respond by the 4th of December to make an arrangement. I enquired via email to keep my payment on the 26th. By the 4th I had still received zero response so I had to opt for the option to postpone this months payment till next month. Right after I selected this I got a response telling me my payment would go off on the 26th. When I told the consultant that I was forced to select this option they told me that I could opt to settle whenever I wanted. Today when I ask for a settlement, a full week before my payment should go off, I’m given a settlement that’s much more than my monthly payment would have been. When I phone to enquire the consultant just tells me it’s what the system is throwing out and keeps telling me that I have extra charges over and above my balance like I’m an idiot and when I tell her I would like her to escalate it to a superior she just keeps saying to me what must she tell her superior like it’s my job to tell her? I would like finchoice to get back to me immediately and explain why firstly my settlement is more than my monthly payment should be and secondly why their consultatants can’t explain what an issue is beyond “it’s what the system says” because then surely if the system is doing all the work their is no need to hire actual consultants.

Hi there,

Thanks for looking into this for me but in the interim can you tell your customer care and collections department to stop taking customers for a joke? They keep referring me to the inflated settlement figure that was sent to me and telling me to contact different departments at the same email address that they’re contacting me from. I would like to settle this account and I would like to settle today still, but I would also like a detailed breakdown of the additional charges involved. Charging me more than 1/5th of my payment in just charges is exorbitant. I’m filling out a complaint form to the credit Ombudsman in the interim while I wait.

So I get a response telling me there is a fee for settling my loan early? Are you actually kidding me? So it’s MORE expensive to settle my mobimoney account early than it is to settle it on time?

This is actually unacceptable and I will be reporting this to the ombudsman to take this further.
