Unauthorised Credit Check

I received a spam call from Finance Debt Solution stating that I was being over charged on interest. I'm very well aware of the interest I pay and that the interest rate is set by the reserve bank but I was still interested to see how they believe they could help with my interest rates. They gave me the first four digits of my ID number and asked that I provide the last four digits. Following this the consultant said he was pulling my accounts on his system and that I would receive an SMS and then the call dropped. I did receive the SMS which states that I gave consent for Finance Debt Solutions permission to run a credit check on my name/ID number. At no point did I agree to them running a credit check on my name. I value my credit rating and having a credit check run on your ID number affects your credit score. This is complete unacceptable and *******.
