Recovery of Statutory Government fuel increase levy

On 2018-05-23 i received correspondence from Fidelity ADT titled "Recovery of Statutory Government fuel increase levy" I feel this is a poor excuse being used by this company that they need to recover any fuel increase imposed by government. If and when the fuel price drops, will they drop their "levy"???

Recovery of Statutory Government fuel increase levy

A key aspect of our increased focus on community security is ensuring that our roaming Armed Response, Tactical Teams and Technical fleet of more than 1 300 vehicles continues to function at optimum levels. Having these vehicles constantly patrolling streets and neighbourhoods not only ensures that Fidelity ADT is able to respond swiftly and efficiently to any emergency, but also plays a major role in proactively preventing incidents by serving as a highly visible deterrent to would-be *********.

Like many companies that rely heavily on vehicle fleets or road transport, Fidelity ADT has been significantly affected by the recent Statutory Government fuel levy and other increases. We have taken a decision not to negatively impact service in any way and to absorb as much of the additional cost as possible, but the extreme escalation over the last few months has left us no choice but to pass some of this on.

Consequently, we hereby advise you that your monthly Fidelity ADT fee will increase by R7.50 (including VAT) as from 1 June 2018.

Please note that this surcharge does not replace our annual fee review, which will be communicated separately as appropriate.
