Very unhappy customer. Daylight *******.

My fiancé had recently purchased a new vehicle and as we all know, the car needs to be insured before driving it off the showroom floor. We got insurance on the vehicle and it was part of the contract to have a tracker installed. We decided to go through Fidelity Secure Drive and they were very helpful with arranging a time for us to go through to their main office and have it fitted.

When we went to the dealership to collect the car on the 9th of September, we heard a terrible noise coming from the engine and brought it to the dealerships attention. The very next day (10th of September) the vehicle was taken to the workshop and we were told that they would need to keep it, run diagnostics and repair the damages. We then got hold of Fidelity Secure Drive and told them that we would not be able to get the car to them so we asked if it could be installed at the workshop and they assured us that that was not a problem at all, in fact it was done the very same day.

Fast forward to the 14th of September when we were told that the vehicle had been repaired and was ready for collection! We collected the vehicle and decided to do a proper test drive on the vehicle as we were traveling 7 hours to our work place in KZN the next day. +-10km later the engine light comes on, we contact the dealership and they can only look at the vehicle on the 16th of September as they are not open on a Sunday. So Monday the 16th of September we arrive at the dealership, my fiancé drives with the salesman and dealership principal to the workshop and we were told it was a quick fix. So it gets fixed, my fiancé drives the vehicle and everything is okay. He comes back home, we pack the car and off we head to KZN in our new vehicle! Only for +-10km later, the engine light comes on. After this ordeal, you can understand our frustrations, so with very heavy hearts we decide to call off the deal and return the car to the dealership. That very same day, we get hold of the insurance and canceled the contract and then we get hold of Fidelity Secure Drive to try and cancel the contract for the tracker.

Only for us to get told that to cancel the tracker we have to pay R1800.00 because we signed into a 3 year contract? I am fully aware that we are terminating a contract, but is there no sympathy for what we have gone through? We had the car in our possession for two days. We had no idea that this is what would transpire after we bought our new car and we did everything that we needed to do in good faith. I could understand paying an installation fee, but R1800.00? That is 25% of my fiance's salary. Our bread and butter. For what? For what service? Please justify this. Absolutely unfair, ridiculous and day light ******* Fidelity Secure Drive!
