On the 5th of July 2022 I went to Spec Savers at Mall At Reds to have my eyes tested. I asked about the credit option they had on offer. They explained that the credit option is with Fever Tree Finance (Pty) Ltd, and that I need to fill in separate application forms whereby I agree to a six-month credit plan. Each and every month the debit order was by via my banking account, FNB. I also had to pay an additional amount with my monthly instalments to honour the agreement. According to my records and calculations, as at the end of October 2022, I noticed that I now only owed Fever Tree Finance R22.50. Instead, according to their records and statement, I owed them R1264.00. I also noticed that the agreed instalment differed every month. So, I sent an email in November 2022 to Fever Tree Finance requesting them to explain why the balance is R1264.00 and not R22.50. They rep**** as follows:- “Thank you for getting in touch. Please find attached your statement as requested.” No explanation as to why the monthly instalments differed each month, just showing on the statement the extra amount that I now need to pay – the R264.00 now became R267,00 – a R3.00 increase with no explanation. Once again I rep**** with an email and asked for an explanation. Up to date no reply was received from them. At the end of November 2022 I sent another email asking them why they did not debit the whole amount of R267.00 for the month of November 2022, as they only debited my account with R64.50. Still no reply or explanations. Today I went back to Spec Savers at Mall At Reds, where I had my eyes tested, and asked the lady at accounts to please assist me with my account. She said that my account with Spec Savers is paid in full with no outstanding monies. I then explained my situation to her and she then got hold of Fever Tree Finance (Pty) Ltd. account department on the line for me. I explained my situation to the lady of Fever Tree Finance (Pty) Ltd and asked her what my balance is, to which she rep**** – R235,00!! I asked her for what is the additional R35.00 and she explained that it is an admin fee they charge monthly on my account. I told her that I’m not going to pay the admin fee of R35.00 and at the same time I also asked her why their instalments differ every month - she could not answer me. I asked her why they only deducted the R64,00 and not the total amount of R264.00, once again so could not answer me. I said to her that I am going to pay the R200.00 when I get home and close the debit order with them. She then threatened me that they will hand me over to the Legal Authorities.
