Epic service

I met my wife for a very late supper at Fego in Montecasino at about 11.30pm on Friday night, 05 May. I had just come from work and she had gone to see a movie. We queried what time the kitchen was closing and a waiter ushered us to our table assuring us that he would check the closing time for the kitchen but could guarantee that they were still open. Davd M came to the table, took our drinks order and returned with our drinks. We ordered our food. I ordered my favourite Chicken and Chourizo pasta and my wife, being vegetarian, ordered a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich. She asked for extra chilli on her sandwich. When the sandwich arrived, she took one bite and that's all she could manage. The chilli was too hot. She put the sandwich aside and decided to take it home so I could eat it later.

David came to the table, quite concerned that my wife had barely touched her sandwich. We asked for the sandwich to be packed as a take away. He agreed and took the sandwich away but returned a few minutes later and offered to make a fresh sandwich. He was under no obligation to do so as the mistake was clearly ours for having asked for extra chilli. There was no blame apportioned to me as the customer, no harsh words or condescending attitude. Just heartelt sincerity and concern over a customer who didn't enjoy what they ordered. I was both touched and impressed by the gesture.

Because Montecasino is so close to home and because we go to the movies there so often, we often end up at Fego for coffee and cake or a meal. I've always had decent service at the restaurant but never have I experienced customer service from a waiter that touched me so deeply. David has a warmth and kindness that is unparallelled, especially in the food industry.

Keep provind service like this and I may have to constantly visit Fego. You've got a friend in me.
