TNT/FedEx
I have a parcel coming from overseas as part of a prize, FedEx/TNT refuse to let the item through. The statement I keep getting is "COD account, we need the invoice"... There is NO invoice because it there have been no funds exchanged for the items being received. Bunch of ************ asking for money for things that have incurred no cost. Avoid TNT/FedEx!

05 Nov 2021, 15:29FedEx has now decided to invoice me for "customs and clearance" on a zero value product. They are wanting to charge me +/- R1000 for nothing, this is complete incompetence!

Thank you for the review on Hellopeter, I am so sorry to hear that your shipping experience has been less than satisfactory. Unfortunately a customs invoice is required to process any non-document shipment through customs. The invoice is used to declare the value of the goods for customs assessments. Attached is the invoice provided by the shipper. We have opened a trace to origin asking if the shipper will accept the customs charges.
We understand that you did not pay for the items but any non-document shipment does have a value, even if it is the manufactured value, this needs to be declared to customs.
Any value under R 500.00 would not require formal clearance and FedEx would absorb the clearance costs. Any value over
R 500 full VAT and Duties would be applicable. The item is declared as a Cap, long sleeve and Buff and would carry up to a 45% Duty
