Same custom delays for GIFT shipment.

This is the second time we have paid for Priority Shipping and have an delays with custom clearance, please may someone explain what is the point of priority shipping when it makes no difference with clearance? this is a GIFT shipment and it is the second time it has been delayed.
I placed an order the same day with DHL and my order got received this morning which is intended for a Birthday Gift on Wednesday, here I am with the same custom clearance delay with Fedex.
