A friend sent some books from Canada and the customs duty was only R92, as the value of the parcel was R559. However, I am left to pay a FedEx invoice of R309. How does a company justify this amount, when that is more than 50% of the total value of the parcel? Be careful of the courier companies and their ancillary costs. Their attitude of whether I will pay for this urgently or not, has not helped matters either.
