R1100 for accepting a gift fromt he UK

My sister in law and I both had little girls and my uncle from the UK shipped us a gift of baby clothes. He paid the admin fees of 30GB and a further 50GBP for shipping and handling to TNT in the UK. This works out to almost R1500 for a package of under 2kgs.

Package was delivered without an invoice or any indication of an outstanding payment.

Months later we get a bill of R850.

(We received a 2nd gift hereafter and an amount of R720 was demanded in order to release the package which we paid so when they invoiced us we assumed they were talking about the amount we already paid..)

The amount was queried and emails sent out with no response and now suddenly they claim that we owe R1100? How can that be?

They are now calling and threatening to blacklist us. We are just going to pay now but feel I really need to warn people not to use this service!! In total for the 2 packages of baby clothes we have had to pay R1820 and my uncle paid around R3000. R4820 for 2 gifts! I understand that customs duties will need to be paid but not double admin fees etc.. The reason my uncle sent us clothes was to help us out on costs.. ;((

The 2nd package we received we paid R720.99 for, there was no invoice nothing. We were told that we have to pay it immediately in order to receive the package.. Paid the amount and a few months later was when we recieved the invoice for the first package..
