Hidden charges on delivery from oversees

Hi, I paid R600 for a delivery of a package from the UK. I understood I would have to pay customs on this package which I calculated to be around R300 (VAT). I have had many similar things delivered via the post office and never paid the other 10% duty that sometimes applies to more expensive items.<br> <br> My issue is that upon delivery I was asked to pay an additional R625 before the parcel would be delivered of which about R300 was indeed for customs. I didn't want to pay, as I had already paid for courier in the original R600 shipping, but what choice do I have? <br> <br> This extra cost should be included int he original cost, surely? It is unacceptable that shipping is 50% more than expected, without prior warning! Is this not *********?
