I have shipped an aircraft headset to the USA for a warranty repair.
At the time of shipment FedEx did not want to ship the headset to the USA for repair.
Their excuse was that they regard the headset as electronic equipment and they don't ship electronic equipment.

The only way I could get it to the USA was to have it shipped through the SA Postal Services.
The headset is now repaired and the repairing company had it shipped back to me through FedEx.
FedEx's agent Anealia Adolph now won't release the headset unless I pay import duties on the full price of the item. The headset belonged to me in the first place why should I pay import duties on an item that belonged to me and for which there is no repair facility for in South Africa?
