Fedex claiming duties on items not delivered
Not sure if this is dishonesty or money laundering. They send an email with an attached invoice for import duty and VAT. I query the amount and they suspend delivery. I finally pay the amount and get notification of delivery, but no delivery happened. I call them and they confirm their “mistake” in sending the invoice to the wrong person and agree for refund. Their reference number ***4. That was 12 April and since then I get no feedback or payment even after following up multiple times. Perhaps I should refer to SARS to investigate this practise of earning duties and probably not paying it over.
