Exorbitant charges on UK package

I ordered custom formal shirts for R6100 from the UK, which is an EU country and according to SARS import and Excise duties, such items would attract 20% import duties + VAT on the import duties.<br> <br> On Friday 15 January 2016, I got a call from a FEDEX agent and she said there were clearing charges of +-R4600 which I queried as this seemed very high (75% of the value of the items ordered).<br> <br> I pointed out that the items ordered were from the EU and I was expecting 20% customs duty + VAT so an amount of +-@ 20% Customs duties = R 1 260.00 + 14% VAT on duties = R 176.40<br> <br> Total charges due = R 1436.40<br> <br> FEDEX are refusing to change their charges to that in line with South African Customs law and are basically in my view de*****ing customers with these exorbitant charges of 75%. <br> <br> Such dishonest behaviour should be brought to the attention of SARS and the tax ombudsman.<br> <br> Tracking number ***
